IBM acquires Hakkoda Inc. to enhance data transformation services

IBM has acquired Hakkoda Inc., a consultancy with a focus on data and Artificial Intelligence (AI) services. This acquisition is intended to enhance IBM Consulting's data transformation services, adding expertise tailored to prepare clients’ data for AI-driven operations.

Hakkoda specializes in migrating, modernizing, and monetizing data estates. As an award-winning partner of Snowflake, this acquisition strengthens IBM's capacity to meet increasing demand for data services and support clients in creating integrated enterprise data platforms that optimize cost and efficiency across various business use cases.

Furthermore, Hakkoda's offerings include generative AI-powered resources aimed at accelerating data modernization projects. The consultancy’s industry solutions build on its consultants' expertise in sectors such as financial services, public sector, and healthcare. Hakkoda will enhance IBM's ability to deliver consulting and AI services through its AI-powered delivery platform.

Global spending for enterprise intelligence services is estimated at $169 billion and is expected to reach more than $243 billion by 2028, growing at approximately 13 percent annually. Business leaders are increasingly recognizing the need for effective data migration strategies and modern data platforms to extract value from their data.

As a partner of Snowflake, Hakkoda has a substantial number of certified experts and has received accolades such as the 2024 Snowflake Healthcare & Life Sciences Services Partner of the Year. Hakkoda is also an advanced-tier partner of AWS.

The acquisition was finalized on April 2, 2025, but the financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
