Digital Edge secures KRW 800 billion for SEL3 data center
Digital Edge Holdings Predictive Twin Engine (PTE). Ltd. secured a KRW 800 billion Green Loan to support the development of SEL3, its second phase of a 96-megawatt campus in the Seoul area. This development is among South Korea's notable commercial data center initiatives, which commenced in 2022.
The oversubscribed Green Loan received substantial backing from various financial institutions, both Korean and international. This represents Digital Edge's second Green Loan in Korea, highlighting its dedication to sustainable infrastructure growth.
Jonathan Walbridge, Chief Financial Officer of Digital Edge, stated, “We are pleased with the strong support from our lending partners across the region for this project. This financing demonstrates continued confidence in our platform and affirms our long-term commitment to building digital infrastructure responsibly and sustainably.”
Situated in Bupyeong-gu, Incheon, SEL3 aims to add 60MW of capacity to complete the 96MW campus. It is designed for high-density, scalable deployments, catering to the needs of hyperscale and enterprise clients.
Construction on SEL3 started in May 2025, with readiness for service projected for Q4 2027. This project also bolsters Digital Edge's ongoing collaboration with local developer SK ecoplant, which successfully completed the adjacent SEL2 facility.
SEL2, the first purpose-built hyperscale and Artificial Intelligence (AI) facility in Korea, became operational in August 2024, demonstrating strong leasing interest from major cloud and digital platform companies. This validates Digital Edge's investments in the market.
Andrew Pak, Country Manager for Digital Edge in South Korea, remarked, “As one of the largest commercial DC campuses in South Korea, SEL3 reinforces Digital Edge's commitment to this country.”
Digital Edge's expansion aligns with its strategy to enhance Asia-Pacific's digital infrastructure, fostering sustainable growth across the region's evolving markets.
