Descope, a developer-friendly customer and agentic identity platform, introduced Agentic Identity Hub 3.0 to add governance, policy enforcement, and auditing for AI agents and MCP servers that organizations run internally. The update extends the company’s identity layer, which previously served external-facing agents, to internal agents that security and IT teams are struggling to inventory.
Gartner projects the average Fortune 500 enterprise will have more than 150,000 agents in use by 2028, up from fewer than 15 in 2025, while only 13% of organizations believe they have adequate AI governance. An EY survey found that 47% of organizations skip governance processes for urgent deployments, despite 98% holding formal policies.
Agentic Governance Suite adds self-service onboarding in which employees request an agent with its required resources and each request passes review before provisioning. Approved agents carry a documented purpose, an accountable owner, and least-privilege access. MCP gateway integrations work natively with agentgateway, an open source project of the Agentic AI Foundation, to place one identity and policy layer over every internal agent and MCP server, including clients such as Claude, Cursor, and ChatGPT.
Advanced client authentication lets agents prove identity with keys and certificates rather than static secrets, supporting private_key_jwt, mutual TLS, SPIFFE, and workload identity federation. ID-JAG issuance gives internal agents SSO-like access to any MCP server through the organization’s existing identity provider, with no repeat logins or consent prompts, evaluates policy on every request, and allows central revocation without reissuing credentials.
Agentic Identity Hub 3.0 builds on the existing Descope Agentic Identity Hub, which handles authentication and access control for more than 1,000 MCP servers and millions of monthly agentic transactions. Organizations including You.com, WisdomAI, Cequence Security, Token Security, and Daylight Security use the hub to adopt AI agents and MCP servers with identity controls built in.
Slavik Markovich, Co-Founder and CEO at Descope, said “At the end of the day, internal or external-facing AI systems have the same critical need for delegated access to resources. Agentic Identity Hub 3.0 puts an owner, scoped access, policy controls, and audit trail behind every agent, so organizations can continue adopting AI at the pace they have been without any identity bottlenecks or blindspots.”
