Darktrace introduces Behavioral Defense Platform for autonomous security response

Darktrace introduced the Darktrace Behavioral Defense Platform to provide unified visibility, continuous behavioral monitoring, and autonomous response across AI systems, people, and infrastructure. The company positioned the platform as a way to address risk that can arise from behavior across these connected environments.

Darktrace said its approach responds to scenarios in which risk can originate from a rogue or misconfigured AI agent, an attacker using a new vulnerability, or activity carried out through trusted channels. It contrasted its approach with reliance on static rules, signatures, and known indicators by describing a system that learns normal behavior for each organization.

The platform described in the release uses Adaptive AI to continuously learn how people and AI behave within an organization and to detect deviations. Darktrace said the learning process builds an evolving behavioral model and supports autonomous detection, triage, and response in real time. The release also describes three core capabilities: 360° Insights for correlated visibility, a Unique Behavioral Profile for an evolving representation of organizational behavior, and a Real-Time AI Analyst for autonomous detection and response.

As part of the platform, Darktrace / SECURE AI secures the deployment, management, development, and use of AI systems and agents, and the Platform Portal provides a correlated real-time view of insights and threats across the digital estate. Darktrace said the portal serves as a central entry point and presents coverage, risks, and visibility across the platform, while the Behavioral Defense Platform is described as delivering capabilities for defending against phishing, account takeover, data exfiltration, and human risk across email and collaboration tools.

“AI is creating extraordinary opportunities for organizations, but it is also reshaping the security challenges they face,” said Ed Jennings, President and CEO of Darktrace. “For more than a decade, we have built on the single conviction that security starts with understanding behavior. As people, agents, and infrastructure connect in new ways, organizations need security that understands how they operate as a whole. The Darktrace Behavioral Defense Platform is built to help organizations move forward in this environment with confidence.”

Darktrace said it built its platform on Adaptive AI that applies AI techniques across anomaly detection, probabilistic reasoning, graph analysis, and language models, and it cited references including NIST work on continuous monitoring and updates for AI systems.
