Cohesity unveils RecoveryAgent for cyber recovery management

Cohesity has announced the launch of RecoveryAgent, an AI-driven orchestration tool aimed at enhancing cyber incident response and recovery for NetBackup and DataProtect users. This solution automates the preparation, testing, compliance, and response processes associated with cyber recovery, helping organizations recover from cyber incidents more effectively.

Modern IT systems are intricate, involving physical, virtual, and cloud-based components. RecoveryAgent addresses challenges in managing these complexities by providing customizable recovery blueprints that streamline workflows and help maintain data integrity and compliance. The tool’s user interface allows teams to create tailored recovery plans that incorporate essential incident response actions such as threat hunting and malware scanning.

According to Vasu Murthy, Chief Product Officer at Cohesity, a well-structured Incident Response Plan (IRP) is crucial for minimizing disruption during a cyber event. RecoveryAgent simplifies this process, enabling organizations to prepare, test, and execute recovery strategies with enhanced assurance.

Additionally, RecoveryAgent automates several labor-intensive tasks, including vulnerability assessment and data classification, thereby improving efficiency. It is intended to be integrated with security tools through Cohesity’s Data Security Alliance, supporting a more agile response capability.

The development of RecoveryAgent followed a collaboration between Cohesity and Veritas, showcasing the merging of their technologies to enhance customer offerings. Currently, RecoveryAgent is available for selected customers in a preview phase, with a full launch planned for the latter half of 2025.
