BrainChip and ISL collaborate on AI-based radar solutions

BrainChip Holdings Ltd has launched a partnership with Information Systems Laboratories, Inc. to jointly provide AI-based radar research solutions based on BrainChip’s Akida neural networking processor.

Inter-Switch Link (ISL) focuses on advanced signal processing, space exploration, and cybersecurity, among other areas. As part of the partnership, the two companies aim to develop radar technology platforms suitable for various applications, from drones to large systems.

Disaster Recovery (DR). Joseph R. Guerci, ISL President and CEO, commented on the collaboration, stating that ISL has successfully utilized BrainChip’s Akida processor for implementing real-time radar signal processing algorithms. This has enabled a solution that meets the low size, weight, and power requirements essential for edge computing in aerospace and defense.

Guerci engages in discussions regarding Artificial Intelligence (AI), neuromorphic computing, and its implications for national security with BrainChip CEO Sean Hehir on the latest episode of the “This is Our Mission” podcast available on BrainChip’s website and various podcast platforms.

The Akida processor is designed to process neural networks and Machine Learning (ML) algorithms with minimal energy consumption, catering to edge computing applications. This technology is intended to enhance cognitive communication capabilities across platforms constrained by size, weight, and power.

Hehir noted that ISL has benefitted from access to BrainChip’s engineering resources and support for the Akida IP, highlighting a commitment to further developing AI-based radar solutions.
