Aviz Service Node details real-time KPIs for network observability
Aviz Service Node (ASN) provides real-time, vendor-neutral measurement of key performance indicators such as latency, bandwidth, packet retransmits, and per-session statistics to aid network observability across data centers, telecommunications, edge, and campus environments. These metrics assist IT and security professionals in monitoring and optimizing network reliability and user experience.
Overview of Supported KPIs
Autonomous System Number (ASN) measures session-specific packet statistics including total packets and bytes, captures nanosecond-level round-trip latency between User Equipment (UE) and network points, and calculates maximum data transfer rates expressed in bytes per second. The system also supports the use of embedded or injected timestamps for precise interval tracking of these indicators.
KPI Computation and Data Export
Key performance indicators are generated on five-second rolling windows with averages computed for bandwidth and latency. These metrics are exported to Kafka topics in real time, with partial results dispatched immediately should a session end before the window completes. All Key Performance indicator (KPI) data are timestamped to facilitate accurate time-series and correlation analyses without delay caused by preset collection intervals.
KPIs Distribution Across Sessions and Applications
The KPIs tracked by ASN encompass throughput, uplink and downlink latency, retransmit counts, and total packets and bytes. Each of these metrics is available at session, application, and region levels, enabling comprehensive insight across network layers.
Operational Impact of Latency and Bandwidth Metrics
Managing latency and bandwidth influences several operational aspects such as enhancing user interaction smoothness, improving the quality of real-time communications like Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and gaming, and maintaining responsiveness in cloud storage and compute functions. These measures also support scalable network architectures and reduce incidents that could disrupt mission-critical workloads.
ASN's capability to provide granular, real-time KPIs equips network operators with the tools necessary for reducing delays, improving throughput, and strengthening network dependability across evolving network infrastructures.
