Aviz Networks launches SONiC Express for enterprise open networking

Aviz Networks has introduced SONiC Express, a combined solution designed to facilitate enterprise deployment of open network infrastructures with integrated support for Generative AI-driven network management.

The solution reflects efforts to address enterprises' requirements to streamline the adoption and scaling of Software for Open Networking in the Cloud (SONiC). It offers operational support and hardware components to simplify open networking adoption, while aiming to reduce deployment complexity traditionally linked with open-source networking.

Technically, SONiC Express integrates network switches manufactured by Edgecore Networks pre-loaded with SONiC software verified through community testing. These devices also come with Aviz’s ONES container software installed, facilitating post-deployment functionality. Aviz contributes customer support and a network operations layer including orchestration, network observability, and deployment of Remote Direct Memory Access (DMA) (RDMA) over Converged Ethernet (RoCEv2) fabrics. An additional element is the Generative AI-based Network Copilot designed to assist in network management automation.

The distribution and availability of SONiC Express are managed by Environment Provisioning Script (EPS) Global, which operates as the primary marketplace. The collaboration among Aviz Networks, Edgecore Networks, and EPS Global positions the solution for broad global access and deployment in enterprise environments.

“SONiC Express will drive fast and cost-effective innovations, making open-source networking far more accessible in the enterprise. Our collaboration with Edgecore and EPS Global signifies a pivotal moment in networking, helping to reduce operational costs. This is achieved by combining Aviz's expertise in AI and NetOps with robust switching hardware and an extensive distribution network. SONiC Express is not just a product; it's a gateway to the future,” said Vishal Shukla, CEO for Aviz Networks.

Chris Huang, Executive Vice President of Edgecore Networks, said, “At Edgecore, we seamlessly integrate with industry-leading third-party offerings to automate and validate networks, and this offering has expanded with the new collaboration with Aviz Networks and EPS Global. SONiC Express is a testament to our commitment to innovation and quality. By offering our proven SONiC network operating system solutions with Aviz's advanced NetOps capabilities and distribution through EPS Global’s expansive network, we are setting a new standard in bringing open networking solutions for enterprises.” Alan Fagan, Director of Sales North America for EPS Global, said, “We are thrilled to be the go-to marketplace for SONiC Express, bridging the gap between cutting-edge networking technology and enterprise customers. This initiative aligns perfectly with our mission to distribute next-generation networking solutions that are accessible, reliable, and ready for the challenges of tomorrow.”

The companies have outlined plans to leverage their respective technologies and distribution channels to support enterprises adopting open networking infrastructures enhanced with AI-driven management capabilities.
