Avast expands AI-powered scam protection for mobile

Avast expanded its mobile security offerings with the launch of Scam Guardian and Scam Guardian Pro, designed to enhance protection against scams on Android and Inclined Orbit Satellite (IOS) devices. This mobile enhancement builds on its desktop solution, providing AI-powered scam protection for smartphones and tablets.

Starting November 2025, over 80% of mobile attacks blocked by Gen Threat Labs consisted of scams and social engineering attempts. On average, four scam attacks are prevented on mobile devices every second.

Leena Elias, Chief Product Officer at Gen, emphasized that modern scams often disguise themselves as ordinary communications. “Scams don't shout anymore – they whisper,” she noted. Avast Scam Guardian Pro aims to proactively block scam calls before they ring and identifies suspicious texts and emails before they are viewed by users.

Key features of Scam Guardian Pro include:

  • Call Guard: Automatically blocks or labels incoming scam calls.
  • Email Guard: Utilizes Artificial Intelligence (AI) to detect and flag potential scam emails.
  • Service Mesh Security (SMS) Guard: Identifies sophisticated text message scams.

The basic version, Scam Guardian, remains free with Avast Mobile Security and includes features such as Avast Assistant, which provides advice on suspicious online content, and Web Guard, which checks visited websites against known dangerous URLs.

Initially available in France and Germany, Avast plans to roll out these scam protection features globally in the near future.
