Atos will work with the Municipal Institute of Innovation and Technology of Barcelona to develop a new digital service model for Barcelona City Council employees. The effort targets changes to how technological support and customer care are delivered for staff who rely on internal services as part of daily work.
Barcelona and Paris dated September 8, 2026, the company said the collaboration will focus on updating the technological services used by municipal professionals. The project is intended to shift toward a more agile and efficient service model, including quicker resolution of technological needs and simpler access to digital services.
The initiative covers new capabilities for technological support and customer care, including process simplification and reduced response times. It also includes self-service mechanisms for common procedures, face-to-face service spaces, tools designed to speed up incident resolution, and systems intended to anticipate needs and improvement opportunities based on data analysis. The work further includes automation of repetitive tasks, advanced knowledge management, and the use of artificial intelligence technologies to support access to information and strengthen support teams’ response capacity.
The companies described operational steps that would automate frequent processes, facilitate access to technological support, and incorporate advanced data analysis tools for continuous service improvement. The project also explores new capabilities based on generative artificial intelligence to strengthen management and access to knowledge. “The digital transformation of an administration does not depend only on the platforms or technology we use, but also on the experience we offer to the people who work every day at the service of citizens. This project represents a further step in our commitment to evolve towards a more agile, closer and more efficient support model, incorporating new capabilities that allow us to simplify processes, improve customer service and continue to promote innovation within Barcelona City Council,” said Emili Rubió, manager of the Municipal Institute of Innovation and Technology (BIT). Atos director in Cataluña Juan Carlos Díaz said, “We are proud to accompany the Municipal Institute of Innovation and Technology in a project that will help evolve the digital experience of thousands of municipal professionals by combining innovation, automation and artificial intelligence”.
