Cohesity introduces new data security capabilities for NetBackup with expanded cloud support

Cohesity has announced the release of new features for its Cohesity NetBackup 11.0, aimed at enhancing data protection against cyber threats. Key updates include the introduction of quantum-proof encryption, which safeguards against future quantum computing attacks, and expanded user behavior monitoring that identifies unusual actions to help mitigate potential data compromises. Additionally, the update provides improved risk scoring to bolster security posture and expands support for Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) workloads.

Vasu Murthy, senior vice president and chief product officer at Cohesity, stated, “This represents the most powerful NetBackup software release to date for defending against today’s sophisticated threats and preparing for those to come.” He emphasized the importance of evolving defense strategies as cybercriminal methods continue to adapt.

The release of NetBackup 11.0 includes global availability and several feature benefits: quantum-proof encryption protects communication paths, broadened user behavior monitoring enhances threat response, risk scoring improves security configurability, and expanded cloud support allows for additional PaaS workload protection including major platforms like Amazon and Azure. NetBackup is recognized by Sheltered Harbor for meeting stringent cybersecurity standards relevant for financial institutions.
