Gilat integrates AI into Network Management System

Gilat Satellite Networks Ltd. announced its Artificial Intelligence (AI) transformation aimed at enhancing the Network Management System (NMS) through the integration of Model Context Protocol (MCP). This upgrade, which is available immediately, allows for more efficient network management and automation in Satellite Communications (Satcom).

The newly developed NMS-MCP acts as a conduit between the NMS and AI-driven agents. It provides functionalities for authentication, licensing, and secure communication, ensuring compliance and operational stability. The system supports various AI models, including Generative Pre-trained Transformers, designed for interfacing with the Total-NMS.

AI use cases enabled by this integration include a Network Operations Center (NOC) agent that monitors system performance and can trigger corrective measures autonomously. Another use case is the Software-Defined Satellite (SDS) agent, which dynamically adjusts network configurations based on traffic patterns and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

Aharon Mullokandov, Chief Research and Development (R&D) Officer at Gilat, stated, “We see AI as a critical business multiplier for our customers. It will enable our customers to innovate more rapidly and manage their networks with greater simplicity.” He indicated that this update represents an early phase in a broader AI transformation strategy.
