Flexera acquires ProsperOps and Chaos Genius to add AI cost optimization
Flexera acquired ProsperOps and Chaos Genius to add Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities for autonomous cost optimization across AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Snowflake, and Databricks, a move the company said aimed to extend its FinOps product set.
The company framed the deals as an expansion of its FinOps functions, citing cost reporting and allocation, workload optimization, and rate optimization as areas affected, and identified FinOps for AI and FinOps for Data Clouds as an extension of its product reach.
ProsperOps was described as an AI-enabled FinOps automation solution for public cloud that applied autonomous management of cloud commitments across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, supported finance, engineering, and procurement teams, and used intelligent automation that took action without human intervention; it managed $6 billion of annual cloud usage and grew more than 90%. Chaos Genius was described as an AI-driven cost optimization solution focused on Snowflake and Databricks that used agentic autonomous agents to optimize inefficient usage and had helped Fortune 500 enterprises reduce costs by up to 30%.
Flexera completed the purchases of the two companies and said the acquisitions built on prior integrations with Spot and Snow, adding capabilities across the FinOps framework as defined by the FinOps Foundation; the releases stated that ProsperOps would continue operating under its own brand while integrating complementary Flexera FinOps features.
“As enterprises adopt AI across their infrastructure, the need for intelligent, automated execution has never been greater,” said Jim Ryan, CEO of Flexera. “ProsperOps was founded on the belief that many of the critical cloud cost optimization use cases, particularly rate optimization, could be delivered through AI-enabled management. As the market matures, customers are asking for more than point solutions; they want unified rate optimization, workload optimization, and cost visibility,” said Chris Cochran, CEO and Co-Founder of ProsperOps. “Joining Flexera allows us to scale our impact globally and empower more organizations to govern data cloud costs amid exponential AI growth,” said Preeti Shrimal, CEO of Chaos Genius.
Flexera said ProsperOps would continue operating under its own brand while it integrated complementary FinOps features with Flexera's platform.
