Avast launches AI-powered Scam Guardian for mobile

Avast expanded its product offerings with the launch of Scam Guardian and Scam Guardian Pro, aimed at enhancing mobile scam protection. These services utilize Artificial Intelligence (AI) to provide additional security for users on Android and Inclined Orbit Satellite (IOS) devices. Scam Guardian will be available at no cost, while the advanced features of Scam Guardian Pro are included in Avast Premium Mobile Security.

Data from Gen Threat Labs indicated that more than 80% of attacks blocked on mobile devices involved scams and social engineering since the start of the year, averaging four scam attacks blocked per second. Leena Elias, Chief Product Officer at Gen, noted that scam tactics have evolved, often blending seamlessly into everyday communication.

Key features of Scam Guardian Pro include Call Guard, which blocks or labels incoming scam calls, and Email Guard, which identifies suspicious emails using AI. The base Scam Guardian provides additional tools such as Avast Assistant, an AI-driven resource for users to seek advice on potential threats.

Initially launched in France and Germany, Avast plans to expand these features globally in the near future, reinforcing its commitment to user security in the evolving landscape of online threats.
