Akamai partners with VAST Data to enhance AI inferencing efficiency

Akamai Technologies has announced a partnership with VAST Data to enhance Artificial Intelligence (AI) inferencing efficiency. This collaboration integrates Akamai's distributed platform with VAST Data's approach to Data-Intensive Computing (DIC), aiming to improve response times and localization for distributed inference.

AI application deployment often faces challenges such as latency, costs, and scalability. The collaboration targets these issues, enabling better customer experiences and more accessible edge AI computing. Unlike traditional cloud service providers that manage centralized AI training, Akamai's distributed cloud infrastructure offers enhanced capabilities for inference applications, enabling enterprises to meet stringent local response requirements.

Jeff Denworth, Co-Founder of VAST Data, stated, “With this agreement, Akamai and VAST Data will deliver next-generation AI infrastructure that combines hyperscale performance, security, and efficiency to meet the growing demands of enterprise AI workloads, closer to the digital touchpoint.” This initiative supports Akamai's vision for evolving towards a distributed cloud model in response to the needs of edge-centric applications.
