NVIDIA and Storage Industry Leaders Unveil New Class of Enterprise Infrastructure for the Age of AI

NVIDIA has introduced the NVIDIA Artificial Intelligence (AI) Data Platform, a customizable reference design aimed at enhancing enterprise storage systems using AI query agents. Designed for demanding AI inference workloads, this platform allows storage providers to integrate NVIDIA's accelerated computing, networking, and software into their offerings. By leveraging the NVIDIA AI Data Platform, established storage providers can construct infrastructures that improve AI reasoning capabilities. These AI query agents provide businesses with real-time insights from data, facilitated by NVIDIA AI Enterprise software and the company's recently developed Large Language Model Meta AI (LLaMA) Nemotron models, which offer reasoning capabilities. Key attributes of the AI Data Platform include the ability to Test Access Points (TAP) into NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs and BlueField DPUs for enhanced performance, along with Spectrum-X networking to optimize data access. These technologies are expected to improve AI query agent performance significantly, providing substantial gains in speed and efficiency while reducing power consumption. For example, BlueField DPUs can achieve 1.6 times the performance of CPU-based systems while consuming up to 50% less power. Leading storage providers such as DDN, Dell Technologies, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, IBM, NetApp, Nutanix, Pure Storage, VAST Data, and WEKA are collaborating with NVIDIA to create tailored AI data platforms. These platforms are designed to enable organizations to respond to complex queries from diverse data sources more efficiently. NVIDIA also noted that the AI Data Platform is expected to provide improved performance per watt, further emphasizing operational efficiency in data centers. The integration of AI query agents, which can process various data formats and types, is part of NVIDIA's initiative to support enterprises in scaling AI solutions effectively. Solutions utilizing the NVIDIA AI Data Platform are set to roll out from various storage partners starting this month, marking a significant step forward in AI capabilities within enterprise storage environments.
