VIAVI Solutions introduces 800G transport module for OneAdvisor 800
VIAVI Solutions Inc. has introduced the 800G transport module for its OneAdvisor 800 testing platform, designed to support high-speed fiber networks. This new module will be featured at the Optical Fiber Communication (OFC) Conference and Exposition in San Francisco, scheduled for April 1-3, 2025.
The module addresses the needs of service providers and manufacturers as they develop high-speed fiber technologies for data center and metro/core networks. The 800G transport module builds on the capabilities of the OneAdvisor 800 platform, providing comprehensive testing features and guidance that assist technicians in maintaining high-capacity networks.
Key advantages include enhanced portability which is beneficial for field technicians, improved battery life, and heat dissipation suitable for 800G testing across various environments. Kevin Oliver, Vice President and General Manager of Fiber and Access Solutions at VIAVI, emphasized the need for fast and accurate testing given the growing demands placed on networks by emerging technologies like Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The 800G transport module supports both traditional AOC/DAC cable tests as well as newer AEC/ACC tests within a single unit. It also offers compatibility with both Quad Small Form-Factor Pluggable (QSFP) and OSFP form factors, which are increasingly used in 800G applications. The module's built-in scripts help ensure testing consistency across different users.
The OneAdvisor 800 platform, introduced in 2020, already supports a broad range of modular test capabilities, including fiber optics and RF environments. This addition further enhances VIAVI’s offerings for optical network testing, including Research and Development (R&D) qualification and production support up to 1.6T.
