VIAVI Solutions expands XEdge with new sensor options
VIAVI Solutions introduced enhancements to its XEdge cloud-based edge monitoring and assurance platform, adding new sensor options to broaden data collection for private 4G, 5G and Wi‑Fi networks and increase visibility into edge connectivity and performance.
The XEdge platform was designed to provide continuous visibility into device connectivity and network performance. The expanded sensor set allowed deployments to be scaled to monitoring needs, site density and operational constraints, and the platform supported remote control, automated 24/7 monitoring, customizable reporting and multi-site scalability for enterprises, system integrators and private network operators managing edge performance and Service Level Agreement (SLA) compliance.
XEdge combined unattended edge sensors, centralized cloud dashboards and automated analytics. The enhanced portfolio included XEdge v2, a portable multi-carrier unit that supported up to four cellular modems for continuous monitoring, walk tests and drive tests, and XEdge Lite, a compact fixed sensor with a single cellular modem available in standard form or with an IP67 enclosure. All sensors were operated through the XEdge Controller and supported the same testing scenarios.
VIAVI expanded the XEdge portfolio to include multiple complementary sensor types, enabling targeted monitoring across dense or distributed site placements and offering options for portable, fixed and enclosed installations aligned with operational constraints.
“The expanded XEdge portfolio generates new ways for customers to collect edge data while keeping the focus on centralized software intelligence,” said Yann Rouveyre, General Manager, Mission Critical and Railway Solutions, VIAVI. “XEdge enables consistent, objective visibility into private network performance, helping organizations ensure reliability and user experience across diverse environments, including campuses, factories, transport hubs, remote sites and secure zones.”
VIAVI said the portfolio would continue to expand with mobile, on-demand data collection using compatible devices and that the enhanced XEdge platform would be displayed at Mobile World Congress 2026 from May 2-5 and at Critical Communications World 2026 from June 16-18.
