Super Micro Computer, Inc. launches AI desktop and edge systems
Super Micro Computer, Inc. showcased a new Super Artificial Intelligence (AI) Station at a Las Vegas presentation and described the system as designed for AI developers, start-ups, and higher education and research professionals.
The company expanded its edge portfolios with platforms powered by NVIDIA, Intel, and AMD and presented systems intended for desktop, edge, and consumer markets; Supermicro identified itself as a Total IT Solution Provider for AI/ML, High performance computing (HPC), Cloud, Storage, and 5G/Edge.
The showcased Super AI Station (ARS-511GD-NB-LCC) included the NVIDIA GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra Desktop superchip in a deskside form factor, supported 775GB of coherent memory, incorporated liquid cooling, and delivered more than 5x AI PFLOPS of computing power compared with traditional PCI Express (PCIe) based Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) workstations; the platform supported on-premises (on-prem) deployment for latency and data security. Other systems cited processor, GPU, memory, and networking capabilities described in the product listings.
Additional models on display included the SYS-542T-2R with Intel Xeon 6 SoC processors, built-in Media Transcoding Acceleration, and 2x 100GbE QSFP28; the Supermicro AI PC (AS-C521D-11302U) with AMD CPUs for a slim client form factor; three Edge AI systems based on AMD EPYC 4005 processors in AS-1116R-FN4, AS-E300-14GR, and AS-522R-LN4 form factors with up to 16 cores and IPMI 2.0 Out-of-Band Management (OOB); and the fanless SYS-E103-14P-H with Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processor, up to 12-Xe cores & NPU5, and a stated performance of up to 180 platform TOPS for robotics & AI at the edge deployments.
