Sumo Logic releases 2026 SecOps insights report
Sumo Logic released its 2026 Security Operations (SecOps) Insights report and found security leaders were reevaluating Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) strategies because Artificial Intelligence (AI) adoption and a growing number of cloud tools increased operational complexity.
The report surveyed more than 500 IT and security leaders and was developed with independent research firm UserEvidence; it reported that 90% of SecOps leaders said supporting data sources from multi-cloud and hybrid-cloud environments was very or extremely important for their SIEM, only 51% said their current SIEM was very effective at reducing mean time to detect and respond to threats, and 52% said they were very confident their current SIEM could scale to meet future security and cloud operations needs.
Respondents indicated 90% rated AI/ML as extremely or very valuable in reducing alert fatigue and improving detection accuracy while most AI use cases focused on basic tasks such as threat detection. The survey found 93% of organizations used at least three SecOps tools, 45% used six or more, and 55% reported having too many point solutions; 80% said security and DevOps used shared observability tools but only 45% said the two teams were very aligned, and 100% said a unified platform for logs, metrics, and traces would be valuable.
The report was developed with independent research firm UserEvidence and surveyed more than 500 IT and security leaders. “Our report finds that security leaders are continually investing in more and more security and cloud operations tools, but sprawling security tech stacks create additional challenges that keep the cycle going,” said Chas Clawson, VP of Security Strategy at Sumo Logic.
“Managing multiple disconnected security tools, and our SIEM in particular, was our biggest headache,” said Clark Pichon, C|EH, GCIH, GMON, GSEC, ITILFv3, SecOps Center Manager, Battelle. The release said information regarding offerings, updates, functionality, or other modifications, including release dates, is subject to change, and that development, release, and timing remain at the sole discretion of Sumo Logic.
