SMART Modular Technologies introduces its Non-Volatile CXL E3.S Memory Module

SMART Modular Technologies has announced its Non-Volatile Compute Express Link (CXL) Memory Module (NV-CMM) for data-centric applications, which features both Persistent Memory (PMEM) and high-performance DRAM in a compact EDSFF form factor. This module aims to improve system performance and reliability within High performance computing (HPC) and cloud environments.

By integrating non-volatile memory with the CXL 2.0 standard, the NV-CMM enhances system responsiveness and preserves critical data during power outages. The module's capabilities include improved data recovery, efficient caching, and versatility in server configurations, making it suitable for various types of applications.

Torry Steed, senior product marketing manager at SMART, emphasized the product's role in making high-performance memory easier to implement for system integrators. The NV-CMM is now available in evaluation samples for enterprise customers.

Mike Howard from TechInsights noted that the NV-CMM meets the increasing demands of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and big data analytics, positioning SMART favorably in the memory sector.

The module is accessible for enterprises interested in incorporating its technology into their systems. Specifications, pricing, and availability can be found on the company's product page.
