Smart Communications achieves CSA STAR Level 2 certification
Smart Communications achieved Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) STAR Level 2 certification for its SmartCOMM and SmartIQ solutions, a development the company linked to strengthening digital trust and enabling secure, cloud-first customer interactions and enterprise-grade resilience in Singapore.
The company framed the certification as part of its effort to reinforce digital trust for organisations across Singapore and the broader ASEAN region, citing local expectations around data security. Benchmark research from Smart Communications found that 90% of Singapore consumers considered robust data security measures essential to trusting the companies they engaged with.
CSA STAR (Security, Trust, Assurance and Risk) is a cloud security assurance program developed by the CSA, and Level 2 represented a rigorous independent third-party audit that validated an organisation's security controls, governance, and cloud security maturity. The certification confirmed that Smart Communications' security practices were documented and had been assessed against standards of transparency and risk management. The SmartCOMM and SmartIQ deployments are hosted on AWS infrastructure in Singapore.
The certification followed the company’s launch of a Singapore data centre, which addressed local data residency requirements and the needs of regulated industries such as government, financial services, and insurance. Smart Communications aligned its local infrastructure with ISO 27001 and System and Organization Controls 2 (SOC 2) frameworks as part of the same set of measures.
“Trust is the foundation of every meaningful customer conversation, particularly in markets like Singapore where expectations around security, compliance, and digital experiences are exceptionally high,” said Heidi Johnson, Chief Product and Technology Officer at Smart Communications. “This achievement reflects our commitment to helping organisations innovate with confidence and deliver cloud-first, data-driven customer interactions grounded in security and trust.”
Smart Communications described the in-region data centre and CSA STAR Level 2 certification as reinforcing its long-term investment in Singapore and its readiness to support organisations advancing digital transformation initiatives.
