SEALSQ and WISeSat outline Quantum Spatial Orbital Cloud plan

SEALSQ Corp and WISeSat.Space Corp outlined a planned Quantum Spatial Orbital Cloud intended to deliver Quantum Key Distribution (QKD), quantum random number generation, and post-quantum identity services as a subscription cloud. The initiative matters to organizations planning for security changes related to quantum computing, with WISeSat expected to operate the orbital segment and SEALSQ expected to provide the managed cloud services.

The program is structured with an infrastructure-and-cloud split, similar to a data center model where one party operates dedicated physical capacity and the other operates cloud services that contract directly with end customers. WISeSat planned to deploy satellites incrementally from 2024 through Full Operational Capability in 2033, with a contractually guaranteed 99.9% uptime Service Level Agreement (SLA) at Fleet Operations Center (FOC).

Under the arrangement, WISeSat acts as the owner and operator of the QSOC space segment. It designs, manufactures, launches, and flies satellites and runs the associated ground segment, frequency licences, optical links, and mission control. SEALSQ acts as the owner and operator of QSOC cloud services, deploying its quantum technology stack, operating QSOC as a managed cloud platform, and controlling quantum payloads, software and security architecture, service catalogue, pricing, and customer experience.

WISeSat was expected to provide dedicated orbital capacity through the constellation and a multi-year, capacity-based service arrangement with defined availability and performance levels. SEALSQ planned to purchase long-term, dedicated access to the WISeSat constellation and deliver QSOC services in its own name, while customers contract directly with SEALSQ and do not obtain rights to the underlying satellites or orbital infrastructure. Carlos Moreira, CEO of SEALSQ, said, “The quantum threat to today’s encrypted infrastructure is mathematically certain and approaching rapidly. The QSOC is not a science project — it is the commercial orbital layer that will protect the financial system, critical infrastructure, and national security communications from the quantum computing era.”
