Schneider Electric earns UL ECOLOGO® certification for industrial equipment
Schneider Electric announced that it was the first company to receive the UL ECOLOGO certification for its PowePacT™ Molded Case Circuit Breakers, under UL Solutions' new sustainability standard. This certification underscores the company's commitment to environmental performance in energy and industrial automation equipment.
The announcement took place at the Innovation Summit North America in Las Vegas, featuring over 2,500 business professionals. The ECOLOGO certification, developed by UL Solutions, is based on stringent, science-based criteria designed to validate manufacturers’ sustainability claims.
Bin Lu, Executive Vice President of Power Products at Schneider Electric, emphasized the importance of this certification amid increasing pressure on the industrial sector to minimize environmental impact. Homomorphic Encryption (HE) stated, “As an energy technology leader and the first company to apply ECOLOGO certification, we're setting a new standard for transparency and accountability in manufacturing.”
The ECOLOGO program evaluates several criteria across the product lifecycle, including the use of recycled materials, energy efficiency in manufacturing, reduced toxicity, and recyclable product design. This certification is a milestone for industrial automation as it offers a standardized method for assessing sustainability.
Schneider Electric’s initiative supports growing customer demands for environmentally responsible solutions. The certification aligns with global procurement programs and qualifies as an ISO Type 1 ecolabel, enhancing its credibility in sustainability claims.
Jeff Smidt from UL Solutions commented on the necessity for manufacturers to substantiate their sustainability commitments, highlighting the role of ECOLOGO certification in addressing stakeholder demands. Through this achievement, Schneider Electric aims to foster a shift towards a more sustainable industrial landscape.
