More About Rai Way
Rai Way operates as the network infrastructure arm associated with the Italian public service broadcasting ecosystem, providing transmission and hosting capabilities that support television and radio distribution across Italy. Its infrastructure is used by broadcasting organizations, telecom operators, and institutional clients that require tower sites, transmission capacity, and managed network services for national and regional coverage. The company’s assets include terrestrial transmission networks, tower sites, and associated facilities that enable both legacy broadcast and more recent digital services.
From an enterprise and institutional perspective, Rai Way functions as an infrastructure provider in categories such as broadcast distribution, tower infrastructure, and network services. Its network supports digital terrestrial television (DTT) and radio, relying on broadcast standards widely used in Europe, such as DVB for television and FM/DAB frameworks for radio, where applicable. These platforms allow content providers to reach end users over terrestrial frequencies, while Rai Way manages the physical infrastructure, antenna systems, and associated electronics needed for transmission from central playout or contribution points to transmission sites.
The company also operates co-location and hosting services at its tower and rooftop sites, which place it within the shared infrastructure and neutral-host segments of the telecom market. Enterprises and operators use these services to deploy base stations, microwave links, and other wireless equipment without building separate towers, reducing their own Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) and enabling coverage in areas where Rai Way already maintains assets. The technical scope includes power systems, space provisioning, antenna mounts, and backhaul connectivity, often using IP, Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH), or microwave transport technologies, depending on site configuration and service requirements.
Rai Way’s managed network operations include supervision and monitoring of broadcast and transmission networks through network operations centers, along with field maintenance and on-site technical support. This places its offerings within managed network services, where availability, service restoration, and compliance with broadcast schedules and service-level commitments are primary metrics. For enterprises and public bodies that require distribution of audio-visual content or reliable point-to-multipoint communication, Rai Way acts as a long-term infrastructure partner.
In directory and taxonomy terms, Rai Way aligns with categories such as broadcast infrastructure services, tower and passive infrastructure (telecom), network transport and transmission services, and managed network operations for media and telecommunications. Its role spans both media distribution and telecom support services, with infrastructure that can host multiple tenants, broadcast platforms, and wireless networks for various customer segments.
