OpenFabrics Alliance (OFA) is an industry and community organization centered on open-source network fabrics software that supports HPC, hyperscale data centers, and enterprise environments that require low-latency, high-bandwidth interconnects. Its work is oriented toward enabling efficient use of advanced networking hardware, including RDMA-capable and fabric-based interconnect technologies, through common software stacks and interfaces.
In enterprise and institutional environments, OFA technologies are used as part of the communication layer for clustered applications, parallel file systems, distributed databases, and other workloads that depend on high-throughput messaging across many nodes. By maintaining and coordinating open fabrics software stacks (networking / HPC infrastructure), the alliance supports deployment scenarios where multiple hardware vendors, operating systems, and middleware layers must interoperate within a single data center or across federated environments.
