Parallel Works enhances ACTIVATE with new OpenStack integration for cloud management

Parallel Works has unveiled enhanced OpenStack integration through its ACTIVATE platform, aimed at transforming how enterprise IT teams manage cloud resources. This integration provides enterprises with tools to optimize compute performance and reduce costs through features such as auto-scaling, predictive analytics, and centralized monitoring.

Matthew Shaxted, founder and CEO of Parallel Works, noted the growing trend of organizations reevaluating their cloud strategies in response to increasing public cloud costs. He stated, “To manage rising expenses, many are integrating on-premises private clouds and Kubernetes clusters alongside their public cloud environments, reducing total cost of ownership.” He emphasized that OpenStack support is crucial for repatriating cloud workloads on-premises (on-prem) while utilizing Kubernetes for full containerization.

As organizations aim to repatriate cloud workloads to on-prem data center, there has been a renewed focus on open-source virtualization technologies. These solutions enable businesses to tailor their private clouds, providing advantages such as scalability and robust security without relying on proprietary systems.

Parallel Works is positioned to help organizations maximize existing infrastructure while integrating new technologies without major operational changes. The ACTIVATE platform simplifies OpenStack, enhancing resource utilization, performance, and reducing administrative burdens.

Key capabilities of the new ACTIVATE OpenStack integration include:

  • Advanced workload orchestration: Enables users to create custom workflows using YAML syntax, dynamically fractionalizing Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) resources for varied computational needs.
  • Dynamic cost control and usage tracking: Provides financial oversight with near-real-time analytics and automated alerts for budget management.
  • Turnkey cluster provisioning: Facilitates the quick deployment of high-performance clusters with one-click options for pre-configured setups.
  • Enhanced user experience: Features a single access portal for easy launching of tools like Jupyter notebooks and RStudio sessions.
  • Seamless storage management: Supports a variety of storage types, ensuring data persistence and high performance.

ACTIVATE is crafted for Artificial Intelligence (AI) and compute-intensive workloads, promoting advanced cost control in on-prem, cloud, and hybrid setups. Its user-friendly interfaces and API-driven workflows streamline the process of setting up and managing High performance computing (HPC) clusters.
