Orange evaluates Fujitsu 1FINITY optical transport solution

paragraph Fujitsu Limited reported that Orange S.A. completed a lab evaluation of its 1FINITY™ T900 Series Transponder. The trial demonstrated high performance at 800Gbps wavelengths over extensive distances with low power consumption, supporting affordable optical transport. paragraph Increasing data demands and rising costs challenge network operators to transport more traffic at a lower cost per bit. High energy costs and sustainability targets compel operators to enhance power efficiency to reduce carbon footprints. paragraph Orange's evaluation indicated that the T900 transponder achieved a transport distance of at least 1600 km at 800Gbps while consuming less than 150 Watts. This efficiency is attributed to Fujitsu's closed-loop liquid cooling technology, indicating potential for greater capacity without elevated power consumption. paragraph Houmed Ibrahim, Optical Transport Innovation leader at Orange, highlighted the focus on high-performance networks with minimal energy use. Hideki Matsui, from Fujitsu's Photonics System Business Unit, noted that the T900 delivers reliable terabit performance while utilizing up to 70% less power. paragraph Fujitsu plans to establish a new entity, 1FINITY Inc., on July 1 to consolidate network product operations, aiming to enhance the global delivery of optical and wireless solutions. paragraph The trial played a key role in demonstrating the T900's capacity to meet the demands for sustainable and cost-efficient optical transport solutions.
