Nuix, a provider of investigative analytics and intelligence software, introduced the Nuix Neo Generative AI Framework. The framework targets governance, confidence, and auditability requirements for using large language models and generative AI in legal, risk, and investigation work.
Nuix said the framework was built as a governed orchestration layer that applies enterprise controls to generative AI workflows working with structured and unstructured data. It is designed to support audit-grade telemetry, policy-enforced guardrails, and cost control, while managing context to ground answers in the underlying dataset.
According to Nuix, the framework monitors and meters token usage to prevent runaway costs and manages the context window to improve the reliability of generated outputs. It also describes a governance framework intended to connect a customer-selected model to a curated data intelligence layer delivered by the Nuix Neo platform’s data processing engine.
Nuix said the framework enabled customers to choose the LLM and provider, while linking the model to the curated layer delivered by the Nuix Neo platform. It described capabilities under the framework, including Nuix Neo BYO AI, which applies repeatable workflows across every dataset item and produces structured reports with links back to source items, and Nuix Neo AI Agent, a conversational investigation capability integrated into Nuix Neo and built for controlled access via Nuix APIs. “With Nuix Neo's latest AI, we can move quickly to implement targeted solutions to digital evidence challenges and investigative bottlenecks, while satisfying our unique compliance needs. Being able to leverage the latest AI advancements while staying confined within our own environment is an accelerator,” said Donn Hoffman, Chief Privacy Officer and Deputy District Attorney at Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.
Nuix also stated that the AI Agent is available for Early Adopter participants via the Nuix Responsible Innovation Framework, and it described that outputs remain probabilistic and must be verified against source material.
