Nokia says ESpanix deployed Deepfield Defender for DDoS protection

Nokia said ESpanix, Spain’s largest internet exchange point, selected Nokia Deepfield Defender to protect traffic exchanged at its platform. The move adds DDoS detection and mitigation as an optional service for networks connected to the ESpanix Node.

ESPanix operates from Madrid and Barcelona and serves more than 200 national and international networks that exchange traffic at the ESpanix Node. The deployment is described as in-network protection intended to keep Spanish internet traffic inside Spain and aligned with European regulatory expectations.

Nokia Deepfield Defender combines AI-driven, big data analytics of network telemetry with Deepfield Secure Genome, a proprietary, cloud-based data feed that tracks the security context of the internet. Defender detects DDoS attacks in seconds and supports automated, network-based mitigation with a high degree of granularity, removing only unwanted traffic while legitimate packets keep flowing.

The organizations said the solution was deployed to protect the ESpanix exchange platform and connected networks against distributed denial-of-service attacks, with protection delivered within ESpanix’s network across six datacentres in Madrid and Barcelona.
