Micron Technology Launches 2600 NVMe SSD with QLC NAND

Micron Technology, Inc. announced the Micron 2600 NVMe™ Solid-State Drive (SSD), a new value client storage solution developed for OEMs. This SSD incorporates the first 9th-generation QLC NAND technology, alongside the company’s Adaptive Write Technology™ (AWT), achieving substantial performance gains in terms of sequential write and random write speeds.

The Micron 2600 SSD delivers up to 63% faster sequential write speeds and 49% faster random write speeds compared to leading value QLC and Total Lifecycle Carbon (TLC) SSDs. Mark Montierth, corporate vice president and general manager of the Mobile and Client Business Unit at Micron, noted that this product offers a blend of performance qualities previously associated solely with TLC drives, further enabling the adoption of QLC NAND technology among Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) clients.

Micron’s AWT enhances write performance by employing a multi-tiered caching architecture, which leads to optimized sequential write speeds. The new architecture significantly increases the write speeds, allowing 800GB of data to be transferred swiftly. With speeds reaching 3.6 GB/s, the SSD offers notable improvements in data access efficiency, benefiting end users in both everyday and demanding computing environments. The 2600 SSD is designed in various form factors, catering to a wide range of portable and client device applications.
