McKinsey and Google Cloud create McKinsey Google Transformation Group

McKinsey & Company and Google Cloud formed the McKinsey Google Transformation Group, expanding a longstanding partnership to support enterprise AI transformations across domains and industries. The group is structured to move work from pilots toward scaled results and measurable value.

In the organizations’ description, the collaboration addresses a gap between experimentation and implementation by combining strategy and transformation delivery with Google Cloud’s AI capabilities. McKinsey and Google said they would work through joint teams and use co-funded value assessments connected to outcome-based models.

The McKinsey Google Transformation Group combines McKinsey’s strategy and industry expertise, transformation experience, and technology delivery capabilities with Google Cloud’s AI stack, including compute accelerators, multimodal Gemini models, and Gemini Enterprise. It also includes an end-to-end co-invested model spanning value discovery, ambition setting, transformation design, enterprise-wide technology deployment, and value delivery, alongside support for roadmaps, MVPs, and scaling.

Beyond delivery, McKinsey and Google said they would collaborate on scaling proven industry and domain use cases, and they described work with Gemini Enterprise for McKinsey’s internal knowledge platform. McKinsey’s QuantumBlack technologists and Google’s forward deployed engineers would prototype and deliver scaled, industry-specific AI solutions and agents, and Google DeepMind would provide early access to frontier models including the Gemini family; the collaboration also included forums for senior leaders and shared insights.

“AI is pushing organizations to transform how they capture value and operate end to end,” said Bob Sternfels, Global Managing Partner of McKinsey & Company. “The McKinsey Google Transformation Group helps our clients move beyond pilots and fundamentally rewire their business by combining deep technology capabilities with industry and transformation expertise to reshape core processes at scale.” “We’re at a pivotal moment where AI is fundamentally redefining what’s possible for every business,” said Thomas Kurian, CEO, Google Cloud. “By bringing together McKinsey's strategic guidance with Google Cloud's AI platform, we're helping organizations reimagine entire value chains and build the agentic enterprises that will define the next era of global industry.”

McKinsey said it would invest to scale its Google Cloud expertise and delivery capabilities across infrastructure and AI, while the collaboration cited examples including Indosat, CBRE, and Formula E.
