Lantronix and Cherry & White Introduce Rapid Wi-Fi Connectivity Platform
Lantronix Inc. and Cherry & White outlined a collaboration to deliver a deployable connectivity platform built for locations where permanent networks cannot reach. The companies said it targets connectivity needs in remote and difficult environments, including utility and emergency response settings.
Lantronix positioned the Rapid Wi-Fi Platform as a response to connectivity gaps that it described as an operational liability for safety, uptime and cost. The platform was presented as a way to avoid reliance on permanent infrastructure that takes months to plan and deploy, and to address limits of legacy portable solutions on performance, security and manageability.
At the core of the platform is the Lantronix NTC-552, described as a ruggedized industrial 5G gateway engineered for field environments. The design combines Cherry & White’s Rapid Wi-Fi technology with 5G NR Release 16 SA/NSA and automatic LTE/4G failover, Wi-Fi 6, and 2.5Gbps WAN throughput. The system was described as usable with AC or an 18V tool battery, and as supporting plug-and-play multi-interface integration (LAN/WAN, GNSS, Bluetooth, I/O) plus centralized remote management via Lantronix’s Percepxion™ platform.
The companies said the platform would be offered in two deployment configurations: a Vehicle Connectivity Solution installed on fleet and response vehicles, and a Peli Connectivity Solution housed in a ruggedized, portable hard case for rapid setup in harsh environments, including emergency staging areas and remote substations. Lantronix and Cherry & White said the platform is ready for private 5G spectrum deployments across Germany, France, the United Kingdom and Latin America. “Critical infrastructure operators are increasingly challenged to deploy secure, high-performance connectivity in remote and difficult environments,” said Mathi Gurusamy, chief strategy officer at Lantronix. “Our collaboration with Cherry & White combines Lantronix’s ruggedized industrial gateways with their Rapid Wi-Fi technology to create a powerful, easy-to-deploy platform that delivers resilient connectivity in locations that traditional networks cannot reach.” “By integrating our Rapid Wi-Fi technology with Lantronix’s advanced industrial gateway, we can bring high-bandwidth connectivity to locations that previously lacked reliable access,” said David Bayley, chief operating officer at Cherry & White. “Together, we are enabling organizations to deploy critical communications infrastructure faster, more securely and at a significantly lower cost.”
