KLOG partners with ORBCOMM for enhanced cargo visibility in Europe

ORBCOMM partnered with KLOG Transport Solutions to enhance cargo visibility in Europe through satellite Internet of Things (IoT) technology.

In a recent announcement, ORBCOMM detailed how KLOG, a logistics provider in Portugal, selected ORBCOMM’s satellite-enabled IoT solutions for improving logistics operations on routes with limited cellular coverage. This initiative aims to reduce visibility gaps for secure deliveries in various sectors, particularly apparel.

KLOG tested ORBCOMM’s technology on critical European rail routes, achieving near-complete cargo visibility during transport, a key factor in establishing their partnership. Marta Cardoso, General Director of KLOG, stated, “We were looking for a solution that could overcome the visibility gaps we experienced when transporting our customers’ cargo across rail corridors with no cellular coverage.”

According to David Roscoe, President of Satellite IoT at ORBCOMM, this partnership aligns with their goals to enhance global supply chain safety and sustainability. He noted that the collaboration allows for improved logistics through comprehensive visibility utilizing satellite connectivity.

The implemented solution incorporates ORBCOMM’s OGx satellite IoT technology and the SC 1000 device, designed for global visibility. The SC 1000 is noted for its cost-effectiveness and solar-powered functionality, addressing previous challenges related to installation and operation.
