Huntress enhances support for CMMC compliance for contractors

Huntress announced its enhanced support for contractors pursuing Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) Level 2 compliance. This initiative focuses on easing the assessment process through a collaboration with DEFCERT, a leading CMMC consulting firm.

The partnership enables Huntress to provide free, assessor-ready documentation that simplifies compliance. Contractors are now equipped to reduce time and effort spent preparing for assessments, fulfilling the new Department of Defense (DoD) requirements that become mandatory on November 10, 2025.

According to Chris Henderson, CISO at Huntress, operational and fiscal challenges, rather than technical issues, present the greatest hurdles for contractors. “The high cost of legacy FEDRAMP solutions has created a significant affordability gap for tens of thousands of subcontractors,” Homomorphic Encryption (HE) noted. By offering accessible CMMC compliance tools, Huntress aims to address these challenges effectively.

Huntress facilitates compliance through two main offerings: purpose-built products designed to help contractors meet 37 of the 110 NIST SP 800-171 requirements, and comprehensive assessment documentation, which includes a Shared Responsibility Matrix and an Operations Plan. These resources are intended to streamline the planning and documentation process.

Ryan Bonner, Founder and CEO of DEFCERT, stated that the partnership responds to contractors’ needs for simplified and efficient documentation. A recent success story highlighted a Managed Services Provider (MSP) achieving CMMC Level 2 certification in just nine hours over two days, demonstrating the effectiveness of Huntress’s solutions.

The initiative seeks to support the Defense Industrial Base (DIB) in meeting critical compliance requirements while minimizing resource allocation for adherence to new assessments.
