Huawei unveils AI-Powered Green Site and GW-level AIDC solutions
Huawei unveiled two technology offerings at the Product & Solution Launch event during MWC Barcelona 2026: the New-Generation AI-Powered Green Site and a GW-level AIDC solution, which the company described as intended to help operators pursue zero-carbon target networks and to support Artificial Intelligence (AI) computing in the Edge Resource Allocator (ERA) of the agentic Internet.
The company framed the announcements against rising AI-driven traffic and related strain on site power facilities, noting that operators face reliability and energy challenges as computing demand increased and as energy management requirements evolved.
The AI-Powered Green Site combined end-to-end intelligent coordination and energy-management features. The solution included iBackup, which Huawei said doubled backup time and raised site power availability to 99.9% (an example cited: emergency backup time in Kuwait increased from three hours to six hours). The offering also used algorithms to coordinate photovoltaic generation, energy storage, and gensets, with Huawei citing a Southern Africa case where fuel consumption fell by 75%, cost savings exceeded US$10,000, and carbon emissions declined by 18 tons per site annually.
Huawei described an all-scenario Virtual Power Plant (VPP) that allowed energy storage assets to enter electricity markets and generate revenue, referencing a Northern Europe example where annual revenue rose by over €2,000 per site. For AIDC facilities, the company said it restructured power supply, cooling, energy storage, and operations to deliver integrated PowerPOD and IT POD products along with AI-enabled operations for fault prediction and energy optimization.
“Bob He stated that Huawei will fully leverage its advantages in converged technologies across the energy, wireless, and service fields to help operators build more flexible, reliable, and greener Information and Communication Technology (ICT) power facilities, accelerate intelligent transformation in the AI ERA, and achieve continuous business success,” said Bob He.
Huawei said it would apply converged technologies across energy, wireless, and service fields to help operators build flexible, reliable, and greener Information and Communication Technology (ICT) power facilities and to accelerate intelligent transformation in the AI ERA.
