Huawei passes Enterprise Strategy Group validation for OceanStor Dorado

Enterprise Strategy Group, now part of Omdia, released a technical validation report at MWC Barcelona 2026 that evaluated Huawei’s New-Gen OceanStor Dorado Converged All-Flash Storage and highlighted the relevance of rising enterprise data volumes in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Edge Resource Allocator (ERA).

The report emphasized that growing data volumes in the AI ERA were changing operational requirements and increasing demands on storage for performance, resilience, intelligence, and cost-effectiveness, and it noted that architectural trade-offs among all-flash offerings could complicate balancing performance, reliability, and cost.

Testing in a simulated high-concurrency database environment showed the system sustained more than 876,256 input/output operations per second with an average response time of 32 μs, and the product used native and parallel architectures for blocks, files, and objects. The active-active configuration supported failover across data centers, SmartMatrix full-mesh tolerated up to seven of eight controller enclosure failures, and FlashEver avoided service interruption during storage replacement.

The report evaluated performance, resilience, intelligent management, and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) over five years, and it indicated up to a 64% TCO reduction versus traditional hybrid storage with savings in procurement, O&M, and energy consumption. The DataMaster agent of the iMaster DME data management platform provided automatic system health assessment, performance trend prediction, and fault location within minutes.
