Huawei Cloud AI Ecosystem Summit APAC 2025 sets targets for 30,000 AI talents and 200 partners

The Huawei Cloud Artificial Intelligence (AI) Ecosystem Summit APAC 2025 focused on leveraging cloud and AI solutions to boost economic growth in Malaysia and the ASEAN region. During the event, which took place in Kuala Lumpur, the Minister of Digital, YB Gobind Singh Deo, underscored the necessity of ethical practices in Malaysia's AI journey, linking national advancements with broader ASEAN interests.

In his keynote, Gobind Singh Deo discussed the National AI Office's commitment to completing the AI Technology Action Plan 2026–2030, which aims to ensure that AI technology adoption across key sectors maintains ethical standards and sustainability. He stated, “Every step we take is action-driven, grounded in strong public-private collaborations, to shape Malaysia's digital economy.”

Simon Sun, CEO of Huawei Technologies Malaysia, highlighted the company's AI Talent Programme, targeting to nurture 30,000 AI professionals over the next three years. This initiative will include various stakeholders from students to industry leaders and aims to enhance Malaysia’s AI capabilities significantly.

In addition, Huawei plans to foster 200 local AI partnerships through knowledge sharing and technology collaborations, aiming to spur local investment in AI. Sun also noted that Huawei Cloud would serve as a bridge to stimulate AI investments and encourage homegrown innovation within Malaysia.

The summit's announcements were made in the presence of Malaysian Prime Minister YAB Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim, reflecting the government’s commitment to harnessing AI for regional development through strategic public-private partnerships. The event witnessed significant participation from industry professionals, featuring discussions on Huawei Cloud's initiatives to foster an inclusive AI ecosystem.

Huawei Cloud's commitment includes three core capabilities: a global infrastructure with extensive availability zones, an AI Cloud Service that supports a wide range of open-source models, and a suite of multimodal models designed to meet various industry needs. By employing their Pangu foundational model and ModelArts AI toolchain, enterprises can effectively utilize their data to refine and adapt AI solutions tailored to their operations.
