H3C reported that its CAS platform was positioned as a Visionary in the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Server Virtualization Platforms. The company regards the placement as an indication of ongoing development in CAS server virtualization work. The Gartner report, dated 14 September 2026, reflects the opinions of Gartner's research organization and does not endorse any vendor.
Virtualization platforms face new requirements as AI workloads, varied computing architectures, and virtual machines running alongside containers take hold in enterprise infrastructure.
CAS has grown from a compute virtualization platform into an enterprise virtualization and cloud management platform. It spans compute, storage, networking, security, and unified management, and supports x86 and ARM architectures along with a broad range of operating systems and hardware.
Specific capabilities include NVMe SSD-based intelligent memory overcommitment for higher resource utilization, automatic NUMA binding for optimized VM scheduling, and vGPU live migration for AI workloads.
For application modernization, CAS integrates native Kubernetes and container cluster services that allow unified management of VMs and containers. Its virtual networking features include Open vSwitch, traffic management, firewall, load balancing, and micro-segmentation, with RoCE v2 and SR-IOV support for high-performance and AI workloads.
CAS serves more than 15,000 customers and has over 500,000 CPUs in production across government, finance, education, and media and broadcasting. H3C plans to continue integrating virtualization with AI computing, GPU resource management, and cloud-native technologies for next-generation data centers.
