Flex unveils SmartSense Coolant Distribution Unit for data centers
Flex's JetCool has unveiled the SmartSense Coolant Distribution Unit (CDU), designed for liquid-to-liquid cooling in high-density data center. This unit supports colocation and enterprise applications, efficiently managing up to 300kW in a single rack while accommodating multiple high-density racks.
Rob Campbell, President of Communications, Enterprise, and Cloud at Flex, stated, “As AI and high-density workloads push the limits of traditional thermal management, JetCool's new SmartSense CDU represents a leap forward in scalable liquid cooling for power-dense racks.” This new solution aims to address the heat challenges faced by data center while facilitating quicker deployment of infrastructure.
The SmartSense CDU allows for inlet temperatures exceeding 60°C, enabling what the company describes as true “free cooling.” This feature can eliminate the need for chillers, resulting in reduced energy and water usage. The system design works in tandem with JetCool's SmartPlate cold plates to ensure consistent performance even in elevated ambient temperatures.
Flex is providing comprehensive support services for the SmartSense CDU, including commissioning, rapid fulfillment of critical spare parts, and ongoing maintenance with integrated telemetry for system health monitoring. These offerings are intended to reassure customers as they adopt this cooling technology.
Flex will feature the SmartSense CDU during the 2025 OCP EMEA Summit, providing an opportunity for attendees to explore its capabilities at booth A18 and to participate in a session on April 29 at 2:25 p.m. IST.
