Ericsson Mobility Report highlights 33 CSPs offering 65 5G services
As of November 2025, the Ericsson Mobility Report highlighted the increase in communications service providers (CSPs) offering differentiated connectivity services based on 5G Standalone (SA) network slicing. Currently, 33 CSPs provide a total of 65 offerings, reflecting a shift in how connectivity is packaged and delivered to consumers and enterprises.
The report projected that by the end of 2031, there will be approximately 6.4 billion 5G subscriptions, accounting for about two-thirds of all mobile subscriptions. This growth underscores the expanding role of 5G in mobile communications.
With Fixed-Wireless Access (FWA) broadband becoming increasingly significant, an estimated 1.4 billion people are expected to be connected through FWA by 2031, with 90% of these connections leveraging 5G technology.
The increase in 5G subscriptions is evident, with predictions indicating that by the end of 2025, 5G subscriptions will exceed 2.9 billion, representing nearly one-third of all mobile subscriptions. The rise in mobile network data traffic aligns with this trend, which Self-Adaptive Workflow (SAW) a 20% growth from the third quarter of 2024 to the same period in 2025.
As CSPs adopt 5G SA networks, the report detailed that over 90 CSPs have transitioned to offering these networks, with 21 new commercial offerings launched in 2025 alone. This indicates a move from experimental stages to broader commercial availability, supporting various customer use cases.
Research from the report identified 118 instances across 56 CSPs employing network slicing for service differentiation, emphasizing how this technology facilitates tailored connectivity options.
The report also looked ahead to potential 6G deployments, estimating that global subscriptions could reach 180 million by 2031, contingent on timely launches in key markets.
These findings reflect a significant trend in telecommunications as the industry continues to navigate advancements in mobile technology and service offerings.
