Ericsson integrates agentic AI into NetCloud platform for self-healing 5G private networks
Ericsson integrated agentic Artificial Intelligence (AI) into its NetCloud platform, enhancing self-healing and autonomy in private 5G networks for enterprises. This upgrade transforms the NetCloud Assistant (ANA)—a Generative AI (GenAI) tool—into a strategic entity capable of managing complex workflows across various AI agents. The integration seeks to reduce deployment complexity and streamline operations.
The agentic AI framework supports an organizational hierarchy of functional AI agents. Initial deployments will include a troubleshooting agent planned for Q4 2025, with additional agents for configuration and policy management following in 2026. These orchestrator agents will enable a collaborative effort to manage tasks and processes effectively.
Key features include automated troubleshooting workflows targeting common issues, such as offline devices and poor signal quality, expected to decrease downtime by over 20 percent. The Autonomous Network Assurance (ANA) will also provide real-time feedback to enhance transparency. Furthermore, the NetCloud AI Operations (AIOps) enhancements will facilitate fault isolation and performance monitoring for Wireless Wide Area Networks (Wide Area Network (WAN)).
The integration, set for Q4 2025, positions Ericsson to address critical barriers to private 5G adoption, providing enterprises with superior visibility and control. Manish Tiwari, Head of Enterprise 5G at Ericsson, emphasized that this step enhances not just connectivity but also supports IT and Operational technology (OT) systems. Pankaj Malhotra, Head of WWAN & Security, noted that the agentic AI introduction aims for fully autonomous, self-optimizing networks.
Ericsson's incorporation of agentic AI positions it as a notable player in enterprise 5G solutions, with ambitions to increase revenues amidst a competitive landscape. Last year, Ericsson was the top vendor in global 5G network equipment sales, outside of China, demonstrating its intent to leverage AI for future growth.
