Digital Realty starts construction of ZUR4 data center in Glattbrugg

Digital Realty started construction of ZUR4 in Glattbrugg, Switzerland, as part of an expansion of its existing data center campus in the Zurich area.

The company said the facility will add 15 megawatts (MW) of IT capacity and about 6,300 m2 of space. Digital Realty stated its European portfolio, including its data centers in Switzerland, runs on 100% renewable energy.

ZUR4 is described as part of a campus that includes ZUR1, ZUR2, and ZUR3 in Switzerland. The release also cited certification for ZUR2, which received PLATINUM Plus certification from the Swiss Datacenter Efficiency Association (SDEA). Digital Realty said the new facility will be built to support high-density deployments and AI workloads.

Digital Realty placed ZUR4 within its PlatformDIGITAL® connectivity framework and said the campus offers direct cloud connectivity with connectivity options. The company also said ZUR4 supports local, secure data center capacity in Switzerland.
