Commvault said qualified managed service provider partners can offer Commvault Cloud for Government, a FedRAMP High Authorized service. The company described the update as a way for MSPs to provide data protection and recovery capabilities while aligning delivery with federal cybersecurity and compliance requirements.
Commvault Cloud for Government was presented as a platform MSPs could use when serving federal agencies and organizations handling sensitive government information, including organizations connected to Defense Industrial Base (DIB) requirements. The release also linked the service’s FedRAMP High Authorized status to support for compliance expectations associated with Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC).
The release said Commvault’s MSP model enables MSPs to protect sensitive government data across hybrid, SaaS, and on-premises workloads in high-security federal environments. It also stated the FedRAMP High Authorized cloud services provide inherited security controls that can help MSPs address portions of their security obligations, and that authorization enabled rapid achievement of CMMC Level 2 compliance and could help organizations support applicable NIST SP 800-171 and CMMC requirements within their own environments and assessment scopes.
The company said the services provide support for cyber resilience responsibilities, including helping federal and DIB customers rapidly recover data and restore critical operations following cyber incidents, outages, or other disruptions.
