CAST introduces role-based briefings in CAST Highlight

CAST released a major update to CAST Highlight that introduced role-based, AI-powered insights designed to give CIOs, CTOs, enterprise architects and more than a dozen other roles a personalized view of the software they owned. The release cited a 100x growth in enterprise codebases over the past decade and said that this scale made it impractical for any single expert to fully map applications, their functions, hidden risks, and where Artificial Intelligence (AI) enhancements could apply.

The update supplied role- and responsibility-based information intended to support cross-disciplinary alignment and a shared understanding among teams. The material published with the release listed roles such as Chief Information Officer, Chief Technology Officer, VP of Products, Chief Enterprise Architect, Chief Information Security Officer, Cloud Architect, Software Architect, and Delivery Practice Leader, and responsibilities including product or application ownership, legal and intellectual property governance, open source governance, cybersecurity, ESG/Sustainability, and quality assurance.

At the core of the release, CAST introduced Application Briefings, an AI-powered capability that translated CAST’s software intelligence data and visualizations into conversational language. A new icon labeled “Brief Me” appeared beside each application in CAST Highlight and, when selected, returned role-specific explanations and recommendations covering a functional and business overview, a technical overview, and options for cutting technical debt, removing cloud blockers, and reducing risks.

The briefings also contained AI Service Recommendations naming candidate services and large language models suited to each application, with examples such as Natural Language Processing (NLP) APIs for text-heavy systems, intelligence image analysis, Intelligent Document Processing for Invoice Automation, AI-powered data analysis for business intelligence, and chatbots for consumer-facing systems. CAST made Application Briefings available to all CAST Highlight users.

“CAST Highlight has always understood software,” said Greg Rivera, VP of Product at CAST. “Now it understands you, too. Whether you’re a CIO in charge of thousands of applications, a CTO driving cloud modernization, or corporate counsel assessing intellectual property risk, CAST Highlight explains what you’re seeing, why it matters, and what you can do about it, in ways tailored to your expertise.”
