CalAmp Introduces General Availability for Expanded Remote Monitoring of Modbus-Enabled Equipment

CalAmp reported general availability of expanded remote monitoring support for Modbus-enabled specialty equipment, aimed at helping partners bring field equipment data into applications used for operations, maintenance, and utilization.

The update focuses on equipment that operates across jobsites, yards, and remote operating environments. CalAmp said it captured run hours, fault codes, location, utilization, and machine health data, then made that data easier to collect, interpret, and deliver to those responsible for operations.

CalAmp said it captured data from Modbus-enabled equipment, translated it into a usable format, and delivered it to cloud-hosted platforms and customer applications. It also described capabilities including rugged field connectivity, centralized configuration, over-the-air provisioning, data decoding, and structured data delivery.

Paul Washicko, SVP and General Manager of Telematics Solutions at CalAmp, said, “Customers want reliable back-office access to the intelligence from their critical equipment data in the field,” and added, “Our solution makes Modbus-enabled equipment easier to onboard, monitor and manage, enabling solution providers and OEMs to quickly deliver stronger digital experiences without building the entire edge-to-cloud infrastructure themselves.” The company also cited Foresight Intelligence and Direct Communication Solutions (DCS) as users of the expanded Modbus capability, and said the CalAmp Industrial IoT support for Modbus-enabled specialty equipment was available today.
