Broadcom Launches Brocade Gen 8 Directors and G820 Switch for AI Applications

Broadcom introduced its Brocade Gen 8 Directors and Brocade G820 switch, marking the launch of the first 128G Fibre Channel (FC) platforms tailored for mission-critical workloads and enterprise Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications. These products incorporate quantum-safe technology alongside embedded AI capabilities to enhance storage security and infrastructure management.

According to Dennis Makishima, vice president and general manager of Brocade Storage Networking at Broadcom, the Gen 8 platforms address evolving threats associated with quantum computing while automating infrastructure management through AI technology. The introduction of these innovative platforms aims to provide robust foundations for enterprises operating in a landscape of increasing security challenges.

The Brocade Gen 8 portfolio consists of the Brocade X8 Directors, designed for scalability and high bandwidth, and the Brocade G820 switch, which is compact yet high-performing for modern data centers. Both products support 128G performance and implement quantum-resistant encryption, reinforcing their role in safeguarding sensitive data against potential quantum-era vulnerabilities.

Key features of the Brocade Gen 8 products include AI-powered autonomy, which enhances SAN management by eliminating manual processes and providing visibility across connected devices. The Brocade Adaptive Traffic Optimizer adjusts to application demands, ensuring consistent performance by managing traffic loads efficiently. These advancements aim to enable enterprises to maximize resource utilization while maintaining high transaction speeds.

The Brocade Gen 8 portfolio is available now, with broad industry support from key partners who emphasize its importance for modern infrastructure and data management requirements.
