Atos Support for ESA Selection of 12 DestinE Service Providers
Atos said it supported the European Space Agency in selecting twelve service providers through an open competition tied to the DestinE platform. The selection added advanced applications and services meant to help users simulate and understand Earth processes, with some services already operating.
DestinE is led by the European Commission and implemented by the Electrical Substation Automation (ESA), the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) and the European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT). The press release said the platform is intended to create a highly accurate digital twin of the Earth.
The initial open competition resulted in twelve service providers to deliver Advanced Applications & Services (AAS) on the DestinE platform. The release listed services that assess quality of life with CALIFE, monitor potato fields with Harvic (Harvest in Control), and explore land temperature with Hi-Rest LST at 30 meters, among other offerings.
Among the additional services described were COMEO, designed to compress Earth observation and modelling data using lossy compression algorithms, and DLMS, the Desert Locust Monitoring Service developed by Sistema, along with CityNexus Pro, CONOPS, CC-PLAN, AQWALYTICS, Eki’Learning, MoMo, and InSAR Deformation Monitoring with GeoKinesia. Valérie Dehlinger, director of Aerospace, Automotive, Chemicals, Discrete Manufacturing, Energy & Utilities, Retail, Telecoms, Media & Technology and Transport & Travel Markets in France, Atos, said: “We are pleased to support ESA’s work in advancing the DestinE ecosystem and digital innovation in Earth observation and to play a crucial role in shaping the future of DestinE, ensuring its attractivity for diverse stakeholders across Europe.”
Atos also said an Atos consortium including Atos, Mews Partners and ACRI-ST was entrusted in 2024 with four activities covering attractiveness & portfolio management, demonstrators, lifecycle support, and collaborative services & forum.
