VIAVI Solutions' T/Rx System Wins Electronic Warfare Prize Challenge
VIAVI Solutions' T/Rx Software-Defined Transceiver System achieved first place at the CHALLENGE.GOV Electronic Warfare Battlefield Realism Prize Challenge held at Camp Shelby, Mississippi. This system successfully replicated realistic signal environments using a small, portable design that meets MIL-STD-810H standards and is available for immediate shipment.
The challenge, supported by the U.S. Department of Defense, evaluated components for creating realistic Energy Management System (EMS) environments for contested multi-domain battlefields. The VIAVI T/Rx system was tested against several competitors, demonstrating Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) capability to emit tactical signals for Adaptive Incident Response (AIR) and ground systems, counter-UAS assets, and civilian communication networks.
The system proved capable of producing Blue and Red force signals indistinguishable from real activity, noted Doug Russell, Senior Vice President and General Manager at VIAVI. This performance enhances training for modern warfighters and supports mission objectives. The T/Rx system addresses various military applications, including situational awareness, electronic support, and deception in a consolidated platform.
Designed for multi-mission use, the T/Rx system operates across a frequency range from 1 Megahertz (MHz) to 18 GHz and features significant waveform storage and bandwidth capabilities. ITS rugged construction ensures operability in demanding field conditions, making Interposer Technology (IT) suitable for diverse deployment scenarios fulfill operational requirements for realistic signal environment replication.
