InterDigital acquires AI startup Deep Render

InterDigital, Inc. has acquired Deep Render, an Artificial Intelligence (AI) startup focused on video codecs, in a move that bolsters its capabilities in video compression. This acquisition complements InterDigital’s existing expertise in AI and adds a patent portfolio in AI-based video coding.

Founded in London in 2018, Deep Render has developed technology that changes video processing and distribution to connected devices. The integration of Deep Render’s engineering team into InterDigital’s Video Lab is expected to accelerate research efforts in AI-native video technologies.

Liren Chen, President and Chief Executive Officer of InterDigital, stated, “With Deep Render’s strong focus on research and engineering... this acquisition is an excellent fit for InterDigital.” Rajesh Pankaj, Chief Technology Officer, added that the acquisition positions InterDigital to advance future video technologies, enhancing the efficiency of content delivery.
